Activator Methods International (AMI) is a low-force adjusting technique that does not use any rotational force to the neck or back.
Using an FDA-approved, hand-held instrument developed by Dr. Arlan Fuhr, we are able to speed up the adjustment, delivering a thrust that is both gentle and effective. (Physics is my friend!)
During an Activator session, our patients lie face down on the adjusting table, and a gentle thrust is applied directly to the vertebra. Activator Method works by restoring motion to the subluxated area and is said to provide two advantages over other adjusting techniques. The first is a reduced likelihood of muscles tensing and resisting the adjustment because the device works so fast — up to 300x the speed of the hand. The second is that the force is localized at the problem area, providing more effective results.
AMI has been providing chiropractic care, resources and training since 1967. The number of licensed professionals trained in the Activator Method is approximately 150,000 worldwide, making it the most widely used low-force chiropractic technique in the world. It is also one of the most widely researched chiropractic techniques and the only instrument adjusting technique with clinical trials to support its efficacy.
